Biochar and charcoal

by Susmita Adhikari | 31-12-2020 04:04

Does charcoal and biochar is same? If not what's the difference between them?

Biochar= char which use in the soil in the combination of source of nutrient

Charcoal= char which is used as a fuel, like for cooking, engine of rail, making metal equipment in different shape, burning maize etc.

So over all both are char but only method of use is different.

So Biochar= Charcoal

Biochar = Char + Manure( any source of nutrient)

Char store the nutrient and water ( nutrient are always taken up by plant in water soluble form)

It had very porous structure, there are many pore, surface area so in which they store water and nutrient and the biochar itself is negatively charged so it attracted positively charged nutrient like a strong manget untill it gets saturated.
