Thematic Report - Eco-Friendly Mobility (Monthly Report)

by Sagar Koirala | 17-11-2020 20:27

Hello Guys, Its me your Regional Ambassador Sagar Koirala. Hope You all are healthy and doing great. First of all, I would like to thank Eco Generation for providing me this wonderful opportunity to share my views on Eco- Friendly Mobility. Well It is not a new topic for me.  I have been following Sustainable livestyle since a very long time and have been commuting in eco-friendly vehicles as much as possible. Since the start of Pandemic, I have only used bus thrice and completely avoided any fuel consuming vehicle. You might think it is difficult, but despite living in centre of city, I have managed to follow eco-friendly mobility.

My main mobility source is my legs. I travel as long as 4-5 kilometers distance by walking. Even in capital Kathmandu, I used to often travel to and fro by walking only. I enjoy walking very much and often love to bring out sweat by walking as much as possible. It is also a great source of exercise and helps in quick metabolism. I have once walked from an altitude of 1200 metre above sea level to 5400 metre above sea level while trekking. I even walk around 2 hours morning and evening walk to keep myself fit and healthy. I love to walk with my colleagues and family members and often opt to walk instead of using vehicle for  a short distance work.

I have been using bicycle since past 14 years. I love to commute in bicycle. I have even travelled a distance of around 11 kilometers in bicycle. I love to use bicycle and often used it for travelling to market since the start of the pandemic. I have two different bicycles in my house and use them on alternate basis. I even go on cycle tour with my friends and enjoy bicycle ride very much. The cold air resistance observed while travelling gives me soothing feeling. Despite having two motorbikes in my house, I do not use it. I consider Cycle as my best alternative for mobility.

I urge all my friends, colleagues and every ambassador and members of eco generation to follow sustainable lifestyle and use eco-friendly mobility as source of travel. Though eco-friendly mobility is not easy in our country Nepal but I have always promoted and used them as much as possible. I have even advocate for use of bicycle and other eco-friendly vehicles time to time. But our government is not eco-friendly and have imposed heavy tax on import of Electric vehicles. But I belive that with the passage of time and change in people's perception, we can witness large amount of eco-friendly vehicles in action. Lets promote green energy.
