Free Report - A Concerned Environmental Enthusiast

by Justice Obiri | 09-11-2020 13:40

Innovations from open minds have been the norm that has brought the world this far. I got a sleepless night a day ago because something very weird happened. A thunder stroke around 12:00 am and it flashed across my room with an intensity I¡¯ve never seen before. I got curious enough to step out to see if it was raining and to my surprise, not even a Pico inch of rain had fallen so why this thunder strikes?

I grabbed my laptop and did a quick research which revealed that my community was experiencing a thunder lighting accompanied by showers of rain. This settled me down a bit but I kept wondering why the thunder kept lighting for close to three hours without any rainfall. Climate change was my only answer.

It is very weird how the raining season of Ghana has changed and all of a sudden we had an earth tremor a couple of months ago. And earth tremor is a minor or a baby earthquake. These phenomenon rarely happens in Africa but today they are here. I¡¯ve had a vision where I saw a hurricane ravaging through the lands of my motherland, I pray such a thing never happens but if we don¡¯t stop harming the environment, I think we can¡¯t stop its repercussions. The elections in Ghana is less than a month away and none of the 12 presidential aspirants gave any thought to environmental issues facing the country, the continent and the world as a whole. Empty promises coupled with lambasting of an opposing side is all the politicians care about. The breakthrough is leadership and that is something we lack in Ghana.

Our current president started off well with banning of illegal mining for almost a year. Not long after that with evidence, some of the government officials themselves were caught engaging in the illegal mining that was banned. If a country is governed in this way, how is progress ever going to be achieved? Life has never been easy and life will never be easy till we come back to our consciousness and give the environment the respect and care it deserves.
