Trees Enables The Existence of Other Creatures

Trees Enables The Existence of Other Creatures

Trees are a source of oxygen, as oxygen is a product of photosynthesis. But aside that, their roots strengthen soils and insure that water can get into the earth. So with the existence of trees, they have prevented floods and landslides. The abundance of their leaves has also provided shade, where sitting beneath a tree with the wind blowing give rise to a cool breeze.

The existence of trees in the frontyard and or backyard of a house would also be beneficial. My house is filled with all different kinds of trees. It is a result of my mother liking plants. But it is not a problem since these trees gives a cool breeze. Meanwhile most people may not plant trees due to the lack of space, however there are others who just does not want to deal with the leaves that fall from trees.

I have recently noticed another benefit of trees. I live in Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia. So the existence of trees is pretty scarce and the city is just filled with pollution. Since people are still advised to stay at home, universities have made students do some experiments for classes at home. In my Genetics class, the students are needed to breed fruit flies. Fruit flies have contributed to the study of genetics, so it is essential to understand and be able to breed them.

Fruit flies are bread by first capturing the flies needed, in which the flies have to be of different sexes to be able to reproduce. After the flies are caught, the media needed to breed them would then be made. I have no problem in capturing these flies, because for some reason they are abundant in my house. Meanwhile, my friends have difficulty in capturing them.

I can deduce from this is that due to my house being filled with trees, the biodiversity at home is then rich. Not only is there fruit flies annually passing by, there are a lot of insects such as mosquitoes and ants. Let us also not forget about the birds that make nests on the branches of the trees, and weasels that sometimes pass by to find food from the fruit that grows on these trees.

Trees support life and biodiversity. Not only do they provide oxygen for living creatures, they are also a source of food and a place to live. So consider planting a lot of trees to be able to reap the benefit from it.
