Environmental documentary

Ever since the pandemic, I have been given the time from my busy schedule to stop and think, what else can I do to live in a safe and happy environment? Or how can I help to save the forest? What more can I do? All these questions I keep asking my self. So I began to look at documentary's ,short videos and movies that can help give me ideas. However, the one that really got my attention is entitled " Green Heart".
Green Heart is a documentary based on using the forest without losing it, because around the world tropical rainforest are vanishing rapidly, but however, the Cooperative Republic of Guyana seems to be different, because eventho we are a small country we are also one of earths greatest rainforest nation. Iwokrama and GIZ a German agency for International Cooperation may hold its key to its survival, with thr support of CATS ( the regional Cribbean Aqua terrestrial programmer) ,with a calloboration that started in 2014, when assistance was asked for by Iwokrama in the struggle to protect our rainforest with sustainable use. The reason also being that 90% of the species are found here and all depends on the forest for their survival. It was in tje early 1989 the GOV of Guyana and Commonwealth joined forces, their objective being "Finding ways to conserve the forest while using it for social and economical benefits". Local indeginous communities also partnered with Iwokrama. 371000 hectares right in the center of Guyana have been declared a nature reserve. So Guyana gifted its Green Heart to the world. Tourism also started in the early days so the forest was zoned into a wilderness preserve and sustainable utilization area. So more that 70% of Iwokrama remains untouched.
All forestry is done in compliance with the rules of Guyana Forestry Commission and FSC regulations. The FSC certificate opens market all over the world. When a tree falls light touches the ground for the first time for years, the forest rejuvenates naturally. Iwokrama 60years cutting cycle give the forest time to recover. The densed forest of Guyana are good example of how forest can be regenerate, if handled with care and given enough time. The sustainable FSC certified forestry brings jobs, income and livelihood for people on the ground. Only through FSC certification valuable timer are able to sell from the Green heart of Guyana to the US and European market. The rivers bordering Iwokrama are being guarded as well. It is illegal to do mining in Iwokrama, you can be fined and penalize if found doing same. Iwokrama also receives tourist from abroad who are interested in wildlife and rainforest. It is divided into two zones, the sustainable utilization area the protected area. It is also being taught in the wildlife clubs of how valuable their natural environment and rainforest are essential for our future.
The reason I chose this particular one is because it allows me to know that people from the outside are willing to help us to save our forest and protect while still providing food, income and livelihood. I have learnt that our forest needs our support and comfort just as we need and depend on it.
