I have recently watched the movie “This Changes Everything. “This Changes Everything” is a movie/documentary that looks at multiple communities that have been affected by climate change. I chose this particular movie because one of my science teachers at school had recommended it to us. 

After watching the film, there were many things that I have learned from the movie.

The most important thing I realized, however, was that climate change was a huge issue not because of the reasons we think it is. When people try to raise awareness for this issue, they usually bring up polar bears and other animals that are being negatively affected. They try to get people to feel bad for the animals, make them feel guilty, and accuse them of being selfish. However, this film has made me realize that the issue of climate change shouldn’t be portrayed in this way. The main issue isn’t that polar bears are dying; the main issue is that the environment will eventually turn on us, humans. Our very lives will be and already are being heavily impacted. This is why climate change is a huge issue; it causes the environment to turn on us. This film gave excellent examples of people negatively affected by climate change in several parts of the world. One example the movie presented was the hurricane that hit New York City. This hurricane caused massive destruction. Many people’s lives have been forever changed, due to this very hurricane. Evidently, one of the main causes of this hurricane was climate change. This is a captivating example of the environment biting back after being mistreated for so long. After realizing this, I felt even more compelled to continue to fight for this issue, and also convince others to do so too. Just like the movie said, if you are breathing the Earth’s air and drinking the Earth’s water, you are responsible for actively trying to fix this problem as it is also your problem, since you will also eventually be negatively affected by the environment.
