Environmental Movies - What is its Green Message - Thematic Report

by Justice Obiri | 06-10-2020 13:25

Aquaman

The thematic report for this month is very interesting. After reading the message from our Mentor, two movies popped up in my thoughts; ¡°Aqua Man and The Last Ship¡± The Last Ship is a series and like what is happening in the world now, a pandemic stroke and the people had the their last hope of break through and survival on a ship which was owned by the USA military. The ship¡¯s job was to house researchers and scientist who were looking for the cure to the pandemic. It is a very interesting movie but my main focus is Aquaman which I believe has been watched by millions of people all around the world.

This movie brings two distinct worlds into perspective; Earth and Atlantis (People living in the sea). When the people of Atlantis realized that people from the earth were going beyond their limits when they tried to reveal their existence by firing bombs at their leaders during a crucial meeting, the ultimate ruler of Atlantis retaliated by sending tons of waste disposed into the sea back to the earth surface. Some of these wastes included plastics, rubbers, rusted vehicles, rusted ships and boats, disposed oil and a bunch of waste materials.

All I aim to say is that, indeed if the sea could retaliate to how unfair we human beings are treating it by returning all the waste materials we deliberately dispose into waterbodies back to the earth, trust me, none of us would survive. We visit beaches and dispose tons of waste into the sea. In some parts of the world, people take to the waterbodies to get rid of their human excreta which pollutes the water, some companies and ships deliberately spill oil into the waterbodies polluting the water for organisms living in it.

If we could come together as one, and take a bold step to reduce the rate of waste disposal into the waterbodies, it would help all of us and the organisms living in the sea of which we feed on to gain energy.

Green Cheers!
