"Environmental movies - What is its green message?"

The movie that I am going to talk about in this report is The Revolution it was originally released in 2012  in the form of an action documentary. The film starts with Rob Stewart who is on the Galapagos Islands to photograph sharks where he gets to know about the illegal and indiscriminate killing of sharks within the marine reserve. To curb this problem and to spread awareness about this killings he decides to make Sharkwater but what this leads him to is somewhat much bigger what we can call a ¡®Revolution¡¯. Revolution begins with Stewart in the waters with sharks and that then just catapults to him starting a revolution to save the marine ecosystems upon which the whole humankind depends. He iterates that the last time that water had shown it¡¯s wrath it wiped the whole humankind with it. He then visits Madagascar, Alberta , Papua New Guinea and fifteen other countries. He knew that whatever we do has a direct impact on the ecosystem and if we don¡¯t stop now it will be too late as the earth cannot sustain this much harm, pollution, ocean acidification and destruction. Stewart travels the globe and finds people who are truly passionate about the earth to help find solutions about these problems, he finds hope

by seeing the work done by these people. He says that if we don¡¯t change now the fruits of our actions would have to be borne by coming generations as we won¡¯t be around to see it. But with all the gloomy actions that the man has done there lingers a faint hope that we can still change.

The reason why I chose this movie is that it shows the real and underlying reality of what is happening to our earth every day, people are selfishly killing animals, destroying forests and what not. It shows the marine ecosystems getting damaged each day and the exploitation of earths various fruits that humans often misuse. It starts with blue oceans, with beautiful fishes, and even more pretty coral reefs, but then only in the few minutes if the movie we get to see the ugly side of things where fishes are dead and marine life is struggling due to oil spills, pollutions. How dead fishes are handled and recklessly thrown as if they aren¡¯t important. Even though this harsh side is very crude it still reaches us a lesson. It shows hope and awareness can help us to achieve the positive side.

This movie not only shows the harsh side but also shows how tries to find solutions by meeting people from all around the earth and has hope that people will change to help the climate and earth. I learnt that if we as humankind come together to make the present better nothing can stop us from improving the conditions our earth is in and that solutions lie within us and we can drive green change.
