First day of World Climate Summit 2020

by Meena Pandey | 26-09-2020 02:05

It feels great to share being one of the organizing team and the first experience to conduct World climate Summit with the speakers of 15 different countries.

The summit was organized by Eco-Network which is a youth led Organization that works for Environmental sustainability. It also feels grateful as I am the campus ambassador of eco-network and have the opportunity to act on the behalf of the environment. It is such a platform where anyone can join & take some action for protecting our environment. Basically, we work on SDG goals which are related to environment like Climate Action (SDG 13), Clean & Renewable energy (SDG 7), Life on Land (SDG 15), Clean water & Sanitation (SDG 6). We collaborate all these 4 goals with Gender equality (SDG 5). Because we believe, if we can¡¯t ensure equity, we can¡¯t expect sustainable development.

We would like to thank all our partners & collaborators supporting our initiation. We had our Global partners: Zimbabwe Youth Biodiversity Network, Tunza Eco-Generation, Climates Nepal, Youth for AGRI, Sustainability Week Kathmandu, Eco-Samachar, EAM Proactive, Bangla Radio 95.2, IAAS India, SAARC Youth Council, Youth Talents, Green Commando Earth, YPard Nepal, PEADO, African Youth Advocay Group, Wake Up, Voice of the Vulnerables, AHC Foundation, BUP Research Society, Environmental Clubs of BUP, AHC Foundation, NEAT. We are also grateful to Ms. Saru Pyakurel for her wonderful contribution being and Emcee.

The summit was also live streamed on the official Facebook page of Eco-Network so as to make access to other people who was unable to join us in zoom.

We organized the summit to talk about a very relevant issue and that is climate change. As countries work to overcome and recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, short and long-term objectives should aim to kickstart the global economy through resilient and ambitious green agendas, prioritizing net-zero commitments and low carbon investments in the coming years. We gathered in the summit to discuss different perspective in solving climate change. We discussed on different climate related agendas, issues, problems and we will come up with a really effective solution. That is what we aimed for.
