WORLD CLEAN UP DAY 2020

by Meena Pandey | 21-09-2020 17:38

Every year we celebrate ¡®World Cleanup day¡¯ in the third week of September. This year we celebrated world cleanup day on 19th September. This day is considered as the civic movement where the people all over the world unite so as to clean the planet. The aim of this day is to map all the world¡¯s illegal waste and to engage at least 5% of the global population to clean up or planet. The inaugural World Cleanup Day was 15 September 2018. In 15 September 2018, with the involvement of 18 million people across the world 88500 tons of weight were collected while in the second year of celebration of the world cleanup day 100000 tons of waste was collected by the involvement of 21 million people across 180 countries. In this year, we have to bear unprecedented global pandemic in world cleanup day. Every year around 4 billion of waste is dumped by the people on earth. This year the planet could not be cleaned due to the global pandemic of COVID 19. However, the nature is believed to heal itself as the human activities has significantly decreased which was the responsible factor for the waste generation.
Our Eco-generation member Miss Puja Khadka along with other people from different part of Nepal have portrayed some pictures relating to the World Cleanup day.

Thank you Tunza Ecogeneration for motivating us to act for the environment.
