Humans: Are we the creator or destroyer of nature?

by Aarati Khatri | 18-09-2020 15:14

Today morning, I came across this mesmerizing and brainstorming picture on the internet. This picture compelled me to think about how the fate of human beings depends upon the lap of nature. It's so irony that despite human being interrelated and very much interdependent on nature, they don¡¯t give a second thought on exploiting them for their personal benefit. Are we humans so unaware or we just pretend not to know about any hazardous effect that nature will backfire on us for hurting them or destroying them.

One of the best proof that we can witness is the ongoing Global pandemic that has closed almost 2/3 of the world and all the essential and non-essential industries all around the world. It has inflicted self-isolation and social distancing to the humans who are called as the social animal. Isn't this irony? Well, I think its karma.

We get what we do to nature. Nature is the whole universe and human beings are just a small part of it. So, how can we underestimate it so easily or take it for granted knowing the fact that the air that we breathe to continue our existence is the treasure of nature.? Nature is the whole universe and we humans are just a small part of it. To harm nature is to cause irreparable harm to ourselves. We humans have the power to destruct nature.

We can compare the world before 100 years when there were fewer humans and more greenery around, people were healthy enough to mark their life expectancy to 100 years or even more. There were very limited electronics advancement, minimum traffic congestions, less industry to release their toxicity in the air.

But now with the advancement in science and innovation, we humans have focused our race of civilization with the invention of sophisticated technology to raise the living standard by exploiting the natural resources of Mother Earth to the optimum level for the personal benefits. We have not left any single room for exploiting nature. But as it is said, ¡°Its never late to realize your mistake¡±. The devil of yesterday can be the god of today with the strong will power to do good. So, we can still rejuvenate our nature by changing our attitude and perception of nature. We can still involve in forest restoration program, afforestation program, launch more cleanliness campaign in pollutes area. We don¡¯t necessarily protect nature as it can rejuvenate itself. But we just have to try our best not to exploit it.

I have come to all this conclusion due to the resemblance of a tree stump with the fingerprint of human beings which compelled me to think about how the future of greenery around us depends on our hands that can create greenery with afforestation and the same hand is responsible for the exploitation of natural resources via random deforestation.

Our future is truly in our own hands so we ought to think and act wisely now.
