September 16: World Ozone Day

This year's theme for the World Ozone Day 2020 is "Ozone for life: 35 years of ozone layer protection".

Ozone is an efficient absorber of ultraviolet radiation and help to protect the biosphere. Ozone depletion is a major environmental problem which is harmful to the flora and fauna on earth.

With the main motto of conveying awareness, facts and slogans related to the ozone protection, we are conducting online campaign running for 3 days (Sepetember 16-18).

This is the joint campaign by: Alok Dhakal (Regional ambassador for Nepal, Eco- generation), Meena Pandey (Regional ambassador for Nepal, Eco- generation), Shobha Pokhrel (Member, Eco- generation) and Dolma Diki Sherpa (Member, Eco- generation)

I will let you know all brief about campaign after complition of campaign.

About International day for preservation of ozone layer
History:
On 22 March 1985, the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer was adopted and signed by 28 countries. The Montreal Protocol was signed on 16 September, 1987 on substances that deplete the Ozone Layer. In 1994, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 16 September the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. Basically, it is an international treaty planned to protect the ozone layer by reducing the production of substances supposed to be responsible for ozone layer depletion. The Montreal Protocol was implemented on 1 January, 1989.

The condition now is improving after that protocol signed. Below i have attched a infographics for reference.

I am eager to read yours efforts and way of celebrating this day.
