The Ecosystem Is Breathing Free (Free Topic)

by Anoushka Sinha | 11-09-2020 03:50

The world right now is grappled with a virus but each cloud has its silver lining. So is the case with the ecosystem and its revival during the pandemic. With reduced human infiltration and lockdowns imposed the amount of contamination and pollution level came to an all time low in India. The smallest chimneys, factories,  work spaces were shut to contain the deadly virus but this in turn prompted a breath of fresh air for our coexisting species. Lets talk about some of these amazing ways how the earth is coping up simultaneously while dealing with the pandemic.
Delhi, the national capital once ranked the most polluted city by WHO in 2014 used to have a staggering air quality index if 200 which was highly dangerous and unsafe but following the lock down it dropped to a mere 20 not only that people living in the northern parts of the country could now see a spectacle that they couldnt even see in their wildest dreams that is the Himalyas , yes, you heard that right people could now see the great ranges from their balconies. The skies became clear as a crystal . There were no signs of smoke or dust to be seen just sprawling blue skies. I myself was amazed to see beautiful rainbows  in the skies which appeared during the lockdown after generous rains. We saw the endangered Ganga Dolphins return to the river in almost after three decades as the water cleared up. The Haridwar gets were another scene you could for the first time see pebbles sitting underneath the glassy flow of the sacred river. Flamingoes flocked in greater numbers to the Maharatrian shore. The scene could be called as beautiful lillies floating in calm waters. Traffic pollution reduced to great extent , the average nitrogen dioxide levels declined by 40-50% in the cities of Mumbai, Pune and Ahmedabad, compared with the same period in 2018 and 2019.
Even though we have to stay home during times like this they are also a reminder how we should not exploit our resources and how beautifully we both can grow if we learn to coexist and not overpower. We are given in bounty but greed is what overpowers Nature's generosity to give. So we must learn to conserve, protect and effectively use the natural resources.
Here are some pictures of the changed environment in India. I hope you liked it. Let me know how your country has shown changes during the lockdown.
