Environment and Me [thematic report]

Environment and Me

For as long as I can remember, I¡¯ve had strong passion for science. However, as I was growing up, I was introduced to the terms of pollution, habitat loss or ocean acidification instead of phrases such as vast biodiversity or environmental harmony.

For years, I continue to search for ways to preserve our environment. I have participated in a research team with my friends to develop a device, recombinase-based biological relay, that aimed for more convenient and cost-effective detection of chemicals present in our environment (For anyone who finds this interesting, please visit our project website). And I hope in the future, I will continue contribute to the humanity in solving climate change and achievable sustainable living.

To combat climate change, it indeed requires a collaborative effort from people in our community, our country and our planet.  Becoming a regional ambassador of Eco-generation is one of the steps I took to be closer to my goal. For the past six months, it has been a rewarding experience that I recognized as an environmental activist, I was not along. Looking through the reports written by other ambassadors, I am inspired and encouraged by their efforts to influence others around them, and I feel fortunate to be a part of this team that spreads awareness and promotes climate action.

Efforts of preservation and conservation have elevated to become necessary steps for humans to survive, to prevent ecological loss but also severe financial and economic consequences. As individuals living on this only planet on which plants and animals can now survive, I firmly believe that we, as ambassadors, will educate, encourage, and inform others not only in this 24th term but also in the future.
