[Thematic Report] Environment and Me

by Troyee Mutsuddy | 15-08-2020 21:23

When I was informed about this topic for our final thematic report of this term, I became a little worried regarding what to write. Unlike many people on this platform, I have not been doing very active works for our environment...or at least I think so. Reading different articles from everyone on this platform has made me learn so much, it has made me self aware of my activities to protect the environment.

From a very young age, I was serious about not throwing garbage around open spaces. While I used to see many people dispose their garbage wastes in open spaces, I could never do it. I used to put all the garbage I made inside a bag pocket if I had found no bins or places of disposal nearby. I would rather bring the garbage home and dump it properly in the bins than throw it outside in open spaces to create more pollution.

Lately due to the lockdown, I have started saving some of my unnecessary waste products for future use. I am actually planning to use some of those to create some art with waste materials. I believe it will be quite resourceful if I use those well.

I have also started using some Jute made products! In one of my previous Ambassador Reports, I wrote about the eco-fiber Jute made products. I'm currently using sandals made out of Jute and a Jute bag. (You can read the report here )

I've also started to be resourceful with using plastic bags for shopping. In my house, all the plastic shopping bags from previous grocery trips are cleaned and stored for repeated use so that we can re-use plastic bags multiple times instead of throwing into the bin.

I know I haven't done anything significant for the protection of the environment, but I'm learning so much everyday and I'm getting the motivation to do more help for the environment. There's many more to do and I hope I continue to do good for the environment in the future as well. I am also truly thankful to Tunza Eco Generation for helping me learn as well.
