by Aarati Khatri | 12-08-2020 01:18

As it is said ¡°Youth are the pillars of the development of a country.  The country which has enthusiastic youth that can work actively in all environment, economic, and many other sectors always holds the highest rank in the Human Development Index.

So, with the main motive of involving the youth especially school students, Me along with Nishan K.c collaborated with District Forest Office, Sindhuli, which is located at the heart of Central region formed 10 Eco clubs in 10 different schools.

The main objective of this program is:

  1. To involve more youth from the local level in different conservation activities mostly focusing on the main conservation significant day.
  2. To disseminate more conservation knowledge in the district by mobilizing the youth of the Eco-club in the different corners of the district.
  3. To organize program like planting trees, cleaning up the environment different awareness-raising program, various competition on essays, songs, paintings, speeches, etc. through eco-club

Methodology :

  1. Firstly, we explained the Eco club, its importance, and the different activities that are conducted by Eco clubs through a Powerpoint presentation and environment documentaries.
  2. Then, we interacted with students and conducted the environment Quiz.
  3. We prepared a questionnaire and asked the actively engaged students to write it and present among all the students which made us easier to select the president, vice president and, members of eco-club.

After forming an eco-club, we handed over the different capacity building materials like sports material including Football, volleyball, badminton also waste guards like gloves, masks, two dustbins separately for organic and inorganic waste, broom to encourage them to clean the surrounding clean. Furthermore, we distributed a notice board where we collected and demonstrated the conservation bulletin on it.

We strongly believe that this Eco-club that we formed with future conservationists will excel higher in conservation and leadership. I would like to thank District Forest Office, Sindhuli, Nepal for giving us the opportunity to plant a conservation seed that will further shape the conservation future of the district.
