Sustainable Development Goals: Targets, Achievements, Strategies and Future Strategies in context of Nepal

Sustainable Development Goals 04

Quality Education

This goal comes under Equity pillar of Sustainable Development Goals. I will be addressing about Ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all.

In the past 15 years, Nepal has made a remarkable progress in the sector of education access for all. The major targets being focussed are:
1. Ensure that all girls and boys complete free, equitable and quality primary and secondary education leading to relevant and effective learning outcomes.
2. Ensure that all youth and at least 95% of adults achieve literacy and numeracy.
3. By 2030, increase the number of youths and adults who have relevant skills, including technical and vocational skills, for employment, decent jobs and entrepreneurship.

In context of primary education, the net enrolment rate in primary education has increased to 98.5% by 2019 which is supposed to be increased to 99.5% by the end of 2030. Similarly, the gross enrollment in secondary education is 72% (by 2019), which is targeted to 99% by 2030.
This shows, rate of people with secondary education is lower than the rate of people with primary education. This symbolize many students dropouts after primary education.
In addition to this, the literacy rate of people between (15-24) years is 91.4% by the end of 2019, that is targeted to 99% by 2030.

Likewise, literacy rat of 15 years and older is 71.7% by 2019, that is targeted for 98% by 2030. Primary completion rate is 90.7% by 2019 that is taferf for 99.5% by 2030.

To achieve this goal, Nepal has certain strengths as:
1. Financial and logistics support is made for women and girls in sector of education.
2. Employment opportunities has been generated targeting educated women and other personnel.
3. Many technical institutions are made available for the transmission of knowledge, values and skills across the generation, enabling societies to thrive in the future.

However, there's some weakness that hinders I'm the process of achieving this goal. They are:
1. Rural areas people are still away from the curriculums and experienced technicians.
2. There still lack coordination baking governmental, non governmental, private, and community sectors.
3. In some society, there's still inequality among male and female.

Government have prepared certain strategies keeping all the things under consideration. They are,
1. President Education Improvement Fund Establishment
2. Vocational Education and Training Project
3. Community School Quality Enhancement
4. Campaign for linking education system with employment
5. Know your land, build your nation campaign
6. Provision of scholarship to the female and other group of people
7. Informal education for adults

Education is the most crucial aspect for every kinds of development. The same activities when implemented among educated circle and among uneducated one, then the progress and understanability is certainly impressive among educated group of people. For this, government must make strong provision for better and equitable education for all the ages people. If every ages people are educated then the opinions and understanability from these people will also higher and easier. Let's promote education for all. Let's convince people around us for education. Let's aware people about importance of education.
