by Sonika Pariyar | 06-08-2020 11:08

Creativity is thinking up new things and innovation is doing new things- Theodore Levitt .Few days ago, I went to my village and stay there for about a month. In this period I discover different new things. One day ,my uncle wanted to drink millet juice using straw .But in village we couldn't get any straw .Then ,I was thinking how to make straw for my uncle and suddenly my eyes falls on the bamboo trees near my home.

Bamboo is the evergreen flowing plants having multiple uses like its young shoot can be consume as vegetable and pickle, its hard stem can be used as wood in construction activities, its leaves are also use in different purpose like green manuring, feeding livestock , nowadays it is also used as pot to plant different flowers and crops. I made straw from young bamboo secondary and tertiary  branches  having uniform thickness of about 1-2 cm diameter according to requirement. First of all , I take young branches of bamboo and cut into pieces having length about 15 cm .Bamboo  has hollow stem so  it is easy to make straw .Node and inter node is separated by a diaphragm or septum .Two inter node and diaphragm is present in a single node. So, its easy to make straw from single node and remove internodes on each side of it .In case long straw is need we can remove septum and make continuous hollow stem . We can add different design in outer side of straw to make it attractive .

In this way,I discovered bamboo in my village and realize that it to be eco -friendly than plastic straw. It can be long lasting than plastic straw. And finally I want you all to try it if bamboo is available nearby you.

I have attached photos of bamboo straw prepared by me below:
