Nepal is the country rich in festivals diversity. There are different festivals that fall on difference date of a year. Janai Purmina is the hindu festival celebrated through out the world with family getting together and having kwati or sprouted lentil.Even this day is harbinger of rejuvenation with the Hindu man renewing their janai and people flocking in various part of world to Shiva Temples.

 

Kwati is a mixed soup of nine bean. Kwati bean  is a mixture of beans such as mung bean,soyabean, red kidney bean, black lentil,black eyed peas,fava bean, chickspea, cow pea and green pea.The beans are socked in a water 2-3 days until they sprout and consume in Janai purnima day.Kwati- a traditional mixed bean soup is both a simple meal and a nutritional sustenance for the labour intensive farmers. Beans when sprouted are easy to digest .It is said that it curse cold,cough and is one of the best food for women in their maternity leave. Since it is loaded with numbers of bean ,it helps to regain energy to the sick people.
