It is the most widely cultivated food crops in the world. It is grown in every part of the world. It can be grown in the tropical and sub-tropical region especially. It requires adequate soil moisture for normal development.  Irrigation should be done after sowing three to four times for better harvestment. It is mostly sown in November.

    It is consumed in the form of stable cereal crops. It is used to make backed leavened bread, flakes, cakes, biscuits etc. It contain more protein then other cereal crops. Besides stable food of human being it is good source of feed for a large population of domestic animals as wheat straw.
