(Thematic Report) Save energy, read a post

by Gianluca Piran Fuselli | 31-07-2020 16:49

Hey there! Considering that this post will be about energy usage and its effects on climate change and taking into account that an a post in a blog or an email produce more or less 10g of CO2, I will be as briefly as possible.

As we all know mitigating and adapting to climate change are key challenges of the 21st century, especially in relation to our overall energy consumption and our dependence on fossil fuels. To succeed in limiting global warming, we need to use energy efficiently while embracing clean energy sources to make things move, heat up and cool down. Due to the fact that two thirds of global greenhouse gas emissions are linked to burning fossil fuels for energy to be used for heating, electricity, transport and industry.[1] Depletion of fossil fuels, the impacts on the environment from mining those fuels, and the global warming exacerbated by burning them are critical reasons for us to become more responsible for the energy we consume.[2] Along the principal consequences you have:[3] increasing of the carbon footprint, produced by devices plugged in and running when they¡¯re not in use, causing a bump in the amount of greenhouse gases that enter the atmosphere; reduction in supply, due to the scarcity provoked by the overuse; higher energy costs, you will be paying more without an appreciable return on your investment; and, obviously increased risk of climate change.
