Problem and Solving

by Bal krishna Pandey | 20-07-2020 00:32

We can see many problems related to environment. Some causes may be due to human activities and sometimes human beings gets affected by natural incidents like volcano eruption, tidal effects, etc. Here, I am going to share you about a common program: Land degradation.
Last Friday, I visited a temple which owns some acre of lands. The lands were barren and naked. There is a portion where only the whole red soil is visible. As far as my mind is concerned, there must be some human reason why there are no plants here. After some conversation with the priest of the temple, it was learned that the plants were cut down to make furniture for the school. Here, in order to fulfill one of the interests, it has been torn apart without assessing the future loss. Some of the smaller plants were also destroyed by encroachment and grazing.

What can be done to prevent this ruined land from becoming barren in the future?Next problem, It is difficult to prevent landslides when it is raining heavily.I don't think at present there is any alternative to planting trees to make this place as green as before. By requesting the temple management committee, I got permission to plant some saplings.Personally, I have planted 13 fruit saplings with the help of the chairman of the committee. Now my responsibility is to grow these saplings safely.I am very happy to do this good deed on the occasion of my birth anniversary.

We are aware of the problems and we are not far from the solution but due to our negligence the problems are getting worse. At the very least, there are many ways to solve the problem and lets try with the simple way.I'm looking forward to seeing the plants I planted grow and bear fruit, the shade of the trees soothing people and the birds singing.

I have tried to add something in contemplating suggestion of the mentors. It is universally accepted that tree plantation has many beneficial roles to maintain soil physical and chemical properties through many ways like increasing porosity, making appropriate environment for microbial activities and returning nutrients. According to (SHARMA, 2009),  It is found that plantation of tree brings out the favorable changes in physical and chemical properties of soil. Tree also helps to prevent flooding and surface water runoff which minimizes chance of flooding. They also have a power to influence in local microclimate as well as global climate. This includes temperature, humidity, light intensity and moisture availability. This will ultimately help to prevent the degradation of the land.

In the above case mentioned in the report, soil quality is lost, like the area is going to be decertified. Also, the land is sloppy and the road was paved across the land, which adds the risk of landslides. That¡¯s why plantation was an immediate and necessary option to restore the quality of the land and that will also help from land degradation. We have further plan to plant more trees. With afforestation, there should be checked on over grazing with better management.
