Introduction: We live in wonderful nature which is full of beauty and possess tremendous ability to fulfill the needs of every living creatures.With rapid and progesssing changes prior to time have resulted various upgradations in the surface of ideas,innovations construction and technology.With such changes and development going ahead,there are some negative impacts left behind which we may or may not recognise.For instance, we have been hearing that diesel cars have banned upto some period in many countries and in addition to that plastic and their production have also banned in most of the countries.Why is that happening? This is a question to self.So,here is a pont .We must know about environmental sustainability. Sustainability refers to the way in which the needs of living creatures are being fulfilled in the present must also be fulfilled in the past without any kind of compromise.It is a type of interaction with the environment to avoid the degradation of nature along with its resources.Thus, environmental sustainability is a long term vision which conscious us that the development work and nature should run in a smooth way, without affecting each other i.e. in peace and harmony.For environmental sustainability to be implemented ,there must be sustainable development approaching in the field of agriculture,forestry, water resource, construction ,proper waste management and application of renewable resources. To be more clear on this topic,lets view an example. James want to pick apples from his apple tree .For that, he has two options. One is that he can use a ladder ,climb and pick them smoothly. The next one is that he can use an axe, cut the branches and get them from the ground level.If he chooses second one ,then he fails to get his needs fulfilled from the next time as there is no tree.It proves that he didnot sustain the natural resource and obviously overlooked the importance of environmental sustainability.For many years ago, environment sustainability was not a necessary topic to be addressed , but today it is mandatory subject to be learned and followed on a regular basis. Present Situation: At present, if we view , we can know the huge changes that our mother earth is facing. Climate change has been a hot topic today.We are facing the climate change and are on the verge of adopting it. Likewise, global warming is also another serious issue ; 2005 was the hottest year ever recorded.Food crops are falling across the whole world and that of the rising sea level is threatening the low lying islands and countries. On the another hand, the world population is increasing ,starvation is also increasing and we are becoming more and more dependent on fossil fuel which has been the biggest fear for the conservation and protection of our nature.So, my question here is, on such harsh condition ,how can we make sure that we we can preserve our earth for the future generations? Solutions for maintaining sustainability: For making sustainability role to be accomplished properly, we must be clear within us that every individual has a specific role to contribute by their own.This is because our simple actions determine the huge impacts prevailing towards us. Firstly,to work for the theme of environmental sustainability ,we must act the motto, "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle" in our practical life. Here, reduce means minimizing the amount of waste we create ; reuse means using the products to a several times before replacing them and recycle means making a product to a new use, without throwing them. Secondly ,the way we are becoming more dependent on fossil fuels should be controlled and if possible should be avoided completely by giving focus on the renewable or natural energy sources like solar energy, wind power ,etc Fossil fuels are the main reason for the pollution in our air,water and land resources and when they are burn,they release carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, get trapped in our atmosphere leading to global warming.This is very dangerous. Therefore we must also avoid the use of carbon emissing products and likewise plastics and their production should be banned and if in the very much needed condition,they must be use in a safe way without affecting our resource.As we all know that, the increasing world population is creating a trouble itself in the availability of limited resource, everybody must be awared and focused on the adaptation of small family.We must be conscious on the afforestation programmes and if possible we can own our garden, collect our household wastes there, make a compost there and utilise it in our agricultural practices. While doing anything , we must think of our nature and realise whether our activities are affecting nature or not.If our activities are not harming envirionment , sustainability is being followed on the way. "What you do today can improve all your tomorrows", as the quote inspires we must make a proper defense for our mother earth because we belong there. Viewing the degrading condition, now its time to protect our motherland.So, lets practice sustainability and seek for better future! |
