Paddy Plantation in Barren Plots of Urban Area ( Free Report)

by Sagar Koirala | 09-07-2020 16:49

This year paddy plantation is estimated to be one of the highest as compared to last three years data in Province No.1, Nepal. Terai districts of this province are the leading paddy-producing district in the country. Despite many negative news we got to hear this year, increasing paddy plantation is one of those rare good news. Due to lockdown people were confined in their home. But with the leisure time and ample rain from monsoon, many barren land which were not cultivated since few years were tuned into wet field. I observed few places of my district and was astonished to see most of the barren lands even on main cities tuned green with paddy.
Paddy is one of the most popular and largely grown staple food of Nepal. I am ultimately sure that there will be large paddy production in whole Nepal. The enthusiasm people have shown for paddy plantation is really commendable. Farming is usually considered blue collar job and not preferred by upper midldle-income and rich class people. But things turned out opposite this year, even upper middle class and rich class were actively involved in paddy plantation. Even former ministers, top bureaucrats were posting pictures of paddy plantation, which was quite new for Nepalese people, especially me. This might not be big news for most of the people, but growing in an agricultural country and studying agriculture, it is frustating to see farmers as poorest profession in Nepal. Be it for photo or for fun, people supported farmers and involved in paddy plantation, which is big news for me and many Nepalese. This year , I witnessed farming got maximum attention and it is proud news for agriculture students like me. Though this might me one year wonder, but still i believe such wonders might repeat in upcoming years. Lets promote farming and uplift social status of farmers.
