If I have to choose only one movement for the environment in the world, I'm going to pick RE100. RE100 has been the bravest and most realistic movement that I've ever seen.  

Then you would say, "so, what's the RE100?" 

Though I have mentioned it in the prior report, the general definition is this, 'RE100 is the global corporate renewable energy initiative bringing together hundreds of large businesses committed to 100% renewable electricity.' 

Truth be told, when I heard it at first, I was a suspector. Because we all know companies around the world are the largest environment destroyers, so we always dreamed 'companies destroying our environment, please wake up or please gone away to the sky.' 

By the way, RE100 introduced itself that 'we can't make the companies gone, but change the energy to renewable.' 

My questions divided into 2. The first one, 'Is there a well-organized renewable system enough to change the enormous amount of energy that companies require in processing now?' 

The answer was 'Yes.' Only I didn't realize it because I'm living in Korea.

Renewable energy systems can rarely find in Korea. It's an embarrassing fact, but the Korean government announced never stop investing in coal energy. 

Sweden, Denmark, and Finland, called advanced countries, had already achieved 2020 goals in 2015, which change the share of energy from renewable resources until more than 30%. 

I had no choice but to admit that our energy technology has grown enough to convert 53% of the energy of a country to renewable (Sweden did). This case shows that companies can turn their 100% of the energy into renewable if they want.

My second question was this, 'how could you persuade them? You know how much they love their profit. I think most companies won't like to make a loss in using renewables.'

RE100 didn't answer, just showed their result. 

There are 242 companies committed with RE100. To put it another way, yeah, they all made contracts to RE100, which tell companies are going to make their 100% energy renewable. I wondered who the companies are. What kind of companies had made the most commission, how much they can affect society, or was there any relations to the environment before RE100? These curiosities led me not to sit down quietly.

Therefore I searched for 194 of the companies' information for 3 months. Searching and analyzing through 3 months was quite hard for me, but it was a valuable experience in the environmental explore of my life. 

The below picture is my search result, so this data is not from other sources, but me.

Data 1 is about 'Type' 

Result says financial enterprises recorded the first, the second is manufacture, and the third is food. It surprised me a lot because I thought the manufacture and food companies would hesitate in participating RE100. Company network, means companies are all connected for each profit. According to the company network, the manufacturing companies need imported raw materials to process into new products. That means, to make it 100% renewable, the raw materials from other companies in other countries should be produced in 100% renewable way. Let's have an example. IKEA is going to make brand-new shields. Then, IKEA should acquire wood materials from a company that affiliates in RE100, or makes wood materials in completed renewable ways, because IKEA has committed with RE100. For the goal-100% renewable, there should be only a renewable production process, which includes the import process. If wood material manufacturing company uses coal energy, it can no longer trade with IKEA. For the same reason, food companies should find companies that produce all-renewable ingredients. 

It's a huge deal. It could make a new company network. Trade cycle, which trades only between companies committed in RE100, will emerge as a new trend in the industry world. That's why major companies that have a lot of influence on the world joining RE100 is meaningful. It will promote the environmental companies to succeed and prevent anti-environmental companies from flourishing.

Data 2 tells us the goal year. All the companies committed due time when 100% renewable change achieve. As you can see, 2020 was the most, the following years recorded low and 2050 that we can call it 'the far future' was quite a lot. 

I psychoanalyzed their mind that decided the goal year to 2020 or 2050. Companies decided 2020 were ready to accept renewable energy system. Even some companies had already made some part of technology renewable. Besides, they presented a confident attitude on the RE100 project. Setting 2020 as a goal year means that that company can change its all energy to renewable as soon as possible.

However, 2050 is the opposite. RE100 defined the latest year to 2050. Companies with 2050 as their target year wanted to buy time to switch to renewable energy somehow. The reason may be that the companies have another project considered more or take a long time to adapt renewable energy. We must not offend them. They showed willingness and effort enough.

Data 3 is not such a graph thing, but I'd like to expressed visually.

Of the 194 companies, 30 have completed their mission. Companies in the picture are what I choose as 'the excellent companies' Some of them had put renewable energy before RE100, and the others made it fast and last until now. Typically, the former is Gatwick, and the latter represents Microsoft. 'Smart consumer' will continue to use the companies I selected.

I was talking about companies with RE100 so far. I hope more people to have attention to RE100 and enjoy using the companies more than others.
