Blobal Fishing watch

Illegal fishing, we all know, is an international issue. While it longer stays, sea is going to suffer more hazard, for example it ¡°causes damage such as driftnets, that catches non-target species (like sharks, turtles or dolphins) or destroy reefs, seamounts and other vulnerable marine ecosystem¡±(PEW,2013, para.9)1. To give up this big deal, it should there be a collective work between those who consider that we must act and rescue our marine life right now. I know that environmental people who live near sea, are conscious about this challenge and I am sure they are acting, however what happen with those who are remoted from sea areas, but they love being green and want to help to reduce marine problems. Well, do you hear about Global Fishing Watch?. So, here, I bring to you a way.

What is Global Fishing Watch?

GFW is an independent, international non-profit organisation, which has the ambitious claim to cut down illegal fishing in the ocean worldwide. So, the organisation uses tool like satellite technology2 to make this plan executed, but how does it work? As I said, satellite is a key tool because it helps to identify rare patterns of behaviour between boats, that way, catch if a boat is fishing in an illegal way. If so, the organisation gets previously key information such as their location and speed, now, based on the data, the organisation can reduce and stop illegal fishing in real time.
