The bright side of Covid-19

Stay Safe Fellow Ambassadors. The entire world is under lock-down due to Covid-19 scare. Economies are down, business is bleak, there is gloom all around us. But there is a bright side to this pandemic.

Mother nature is smiling again. The environment is getting better & greener. Pollution levels are all time low. Natural habitat is free again. Mumbai in India has seen flocks of flamingos, over 100,000 birds. The video has gone viral.

There was an increase in leatherback turtles on beaches in Thailand, along with other marine life, as popular resorts close due to the pandemic. This is their highest number since beginning of millennium.

Bottlenose dolphins have been spotted in Dubai. This has happened first time after 2013. The International Union for Conservation of Nature considers the Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin to be nearly threatened due to over-fishing, noise, chemical pollution and coastal development.

Further, a pod of about 2,000 Risso¡¯s dolphins were spotted about 35 kilometres off the Fujairah coast. The find included a rare albino dolphin. Only two other sightings have been recorded since 2014, both in Japan.

Friends, there are positives of the current low-spirited situation. I know many of you are locked in their houses or hostels, many may be away from their families. But this time is to retrospect, catch up a long-forgotten hobby. Develop a trait. You may do things that you have planned for long but never executed due to lack of time.

See, nature is thriving again. Enjoy it. Thanks for reading.
