Earth Day: My contribution to Mother Earth

Greetings Eco Warriors,

As an ambassador of Tunza Eco Generation, this was my first Earth Day celebration. I believe everyday is Earth Day but I tried to make this occasion something remarkable. Not only the Earth Day, I along with friends and some children, are celebrating Earth Week.

Based on the theme of Earth Day 2020 ¡°Climate Action¡± I have organized and participated in following events to engage many people to celebrate earth day as well spread message. Keeping in mind the present situation, we celebrated digitally as well as small gathering with taking all precautions regarding this pandemic.

ONLINE JUNK ART COMPETITION

I found digital platform very productive during these lock down days. Not only the celebration of Earth Day, but also to make ourselves busy with creative ideas and think about the ideas to reduce plastic burden to our surroundings, Online Junk Art Competition was lunched with the theme REDUCE, REUSE AND RECYCLE. Utilization of social media for betterment of environment. In collaboration with YFOP Nepal and EDN (Earth Day Network), this campaign is still running smoothly with exciting participation of youths.Junk art notice

Earth Day: MESSAGE OF ECO AMBASSADORS

In order to raise awareness through social media, I have prepared a video, where 18 young people have also conveyed the message of Happy Earth Day. In this video, I have tried to present the voices of young people belonging to different professions as much as possible. Most of them are ambassadors of the Tunza eco generation, while the rest have joined other organizations from many countries and are constantly working for the conservation of nature and animal welfare.

A GIFT TO MY INTERNSHIP SITE

On 21st April, we had a plantation and gardening program with the members of Regional Animal Diagnostic laboratory, Surkhet at laboratory periphery. At the same time, I planted aloe vera and gifted to internship lab as an earth day gift. In this short program, I learned the names of some flowers and plants from Mali Dai (worker)as well as their role in traditional medicine.

A DAY WITH WOMAN CLUB COORDINATOR

There is a quote ¡°Mother may be educated or not, but she is the best teacher from whom we can learn how to show care and affection¡±. On the date of 29th April, I got a chance to meet Mrs. Bhuna Devi Pathak, who is coordinator of local youth club of my village. During this short meeting, we discussed about woman¡¯s role in home management and social progress. I requested her to discuss about plastic pollution and plastic burning in her next meeting for woman club. She was positive to encourage woman to reduce plastic bags and other items in kitchen and adopt eco friendly bags and utensils. I am very happy to give this Eco Bag to her as a gift which was sent by TUNZA for my personal use. Also, I wished her for Earth Day.meeting with woman club coordinator

KNOWLEDGE SHARING WITH CHILDREN

In the middle of these days, I came home (central part) safely from the western part of Nepal. I also had the opportunity to celebrate Earth Day with some of the kids living in my neighborhood. At that time, I told the children to do whatever they wanted. Some made pictures and some sang songs. We also talked about the importance of nature and sanitation. they looked very happy with Tunza promotional gifts. They also thanked Tunza Eco Generation.
