Hello everyone,
I hope all of you are doing great.Today I am going to share some information regarding urban sprawl and it's effects.

Urban sprawl or suburban sprawl mainly refers to unrestricted growth in many urban areas of housing, commercial development, roads. Urban sprawl or the uncontrolled expansion of urban area is a modern problem but one that threatens the environment.

Urban sprawl is associated with a number of negative environmental outcomes one of the major environmental problem associated with sprawl is land loss, habitat loss, loss in biodiversity.Urban sprawl has various negative consequences for residents and environment such as higher water and air pollution, increase traffic jams, loss of agricultural land, increased runoff into river and lakes, harmful effects of flodding, loss of wildlife and open space.

Due to urban sprawl there is loss of acres of forest, wetlands, agricultural land and loss of these lands harm the environment and leads to climate change. Both water and air is polluted due to increased settlement ,industries and unmanaged disposal of waste.Rain water picks up heavy metal ,spill oils ,lawn chemical  which eventually pollute stream or river.

Due to increased water and air pollution it has adversely affected the environment in various ways which results in enviroment degradation, loss in biodiversity , disturbance in ecosystem ,spread of deadly waterborne disease and air pollution causes respiratory disease like asthma. It has not only affected to human health but water pollution has led to threaten aquatic animals and plants too.

Urban sprawl has become a major problem in present context. The awareness should be raised among the people of communities about the negative impacts of increased urban sprawl so that they are more likely to take action to prevent irresponsible development. Development related policies should be implemented for the proper and sustainable development with proper utilization of land.
