World veterinary Day 2019: My Last year experience

Veterinarians are those who treat animal and advocate for animal health and rights. Last year World veterinary Day 2019 was on April 27 (last Saturday of April). World Veterinary Day 2019 was based on the theme: ¡°value of vaccination¡±. The World Veterinary Association created World Veterinary Day in 2000 as an annual celebration of the veterinary profession, falling on the last Saturday of April.

Vaccination is treatment with a vaccine to produce immunity against a disease. Vaccination is an essential tool for preventive veterinary medicine. Vaccines are one of the most valuable tools in any veterinarian's arsenal. These medicines protect the health of animals and the livelihood of farmers.

Me as a Veterinarian Last year, I celebrated World Veterinary Day -2019 along with International Veterinary Students¡¯ Association with radio talk shows, a march, open seminars, free services, and vaccination of the animals in our college periphery.

Local people were made aware about the importance of vaccination. Vaccination protects from serious illness and complications of vaccine-preventable diseases which can include amputation of an arm or leg, paralysis of limbs, hearing loss, convulsions, brain damage, and death. Vaccine-preventable diseases, such as measles, mumps, and whooping cough, are still a threat.

This year World Veterinary Day is tomorrow (April 25) and the theme is ¡®Environmental protection for improving animal and human health.¡¯ Although it is not possible to do grand program but still to mark this day we can do it from online platforms. Let me know how you celebrated it.

Green Cheers!!
