World Heritage Day 2020

National world heritage day is celebrated every year on April 18 .It is also called International day for Monuments and sites,the days has been celebrated since the general assembly of UNESCO approved the proposal to put forward on April 18,1982 by International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) in November 1983.

 

Nepal is the country rich in ancients monuments and heritage site .During ancients period kings of different period used to build different temples, heritage site,which are our pride . UNESCO has listed different sites of Nepal as world heritage site.The World heritage sites of Nepal are:

 

1. Kathmandu Durbar  Square

2. Bhaktapur Durbar Square

3. Patan Durbar Square

4. Swayambhunath

5. Pashupatinath

6. Chagunnarayan

7. Lumbini

8. Chitwan National Park

9. Sagarmantha National Park

10. Baudhanath

 

 

Different places of Nepal including these world heritage site has been popular destination of tourism.

 

The World Heritage Day Theme 2020 is Shared Culture, Shared Heritage and Shared Responsibility.This theme is more important now as an expression for global unity with current Worldwide COVID-19.Waiting for day when world will be free from COVID-19 and I could visit some of World heritage site.
