Get Well Soon Earth

Self-quarantine due to corona has led to the usage of words, “Get well soon earth.” People are hoping as well as praying that the situation with Covid-19 gets better, thus the use of such words. But those words itself are not completely right. In a matter of fact, the earth has actually gotten better due to the procedures in curbing corona. I am not talking about the deaths caused by the virus. I am talking about what the impact of social distancing has done for the earth.

We have been doing social distancing in order to slow down the spread of the virus. We have majorly stayed home, and only go out to get the essential. Staying in means little emission from vehicles, thus the decrease of pollution. In Jakarta, the mountains can be seen. Where usually there is no view of the mountains. I have even heard that swans have returned to the rivers and canals in Venice, Italy. The ozone layer is even said to have been fixing itself.

So with social distancing, the earth has gotten better. The words, “Get well soon earth,” does not match the occasion. Although I cannot think of a better word to replace and give better hope. All I can think of is, stay strong everyone. We can get through Covid-19 together. I hope everyone is healthy and have all of the necessities fulfilled. My days are filled with online classes, so I do not really notice the days passing by. Keep spirit, everyone!
