[Free report ] YES! Your ¡°thank you¡± emails pollute the environment!!

by Nour Jennane | 11-04-2020 01:45

Sending e-mails, surfing on the Internet ... Who would imagine that these daily actions, pollute the environment in the same proportions as air traffic? In reality behind the whole internet network, there are computer servers that work all year, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week generating a huge amount of CO2. Contrary to popular belief, sending an e-mail weighing 1 megabyte generates almost 20 grams of CO2 equivalent (I can let you imagine how the impact is with the 300 Billion emails sent every year). No one ever wonders how a simple click on the ¡°send¡± button can have such repercussions!

Obviously, you cannot ask the people of the world overnight to reduce or even stop sending emails. Email is a fantastic tool, like the internet, and the world needs it. But you can, at your own scale, limit the energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions that result from this daily use.

First of all, try to reduce unnecessary emails as much as possible. Install anti-spam software or make sure to limit them by unsubscribing from newsletters that do not interest you. Finally, empty your inbox and the spam box regularly. This data is stored in serves and consequently takes up space and energy.
