Hello everyone,
I hope you all are doing well and staying safe at home.Today,I am going to share some information regarding compost,it's preparation and it's benefits as today I prepared compost at my home so I thought I should share this information to you all.

Compost is organic material that can be added to soil to help plants grow.It is formed by the process of decomposition of organic material which are regarded as waste products.Compost is rich in nutrients as it is used for various agricultural purpose. There are various methods to prepare a compost and the method which I practiced today was pit method of composting

Procedure to prepare a compost:
1) At first to prepare a compost we need to dig an appropriate size of pit.The size of pot is determined by the amount of organic matter we want to add.
2)After preparing appropriate size of pit we need to prepare the compost material. The compost materials should be chopped into smaller pieces such as leaves, kitchen scraps, yard scraps.
3)After that we need to fill the pit with different layers of compost materials. Each layer of compost should be 8-10 inch thick.
4)After each layer of compost material we added a mixture of lime, ash, soil and water as lime increases microbial activity and reduces the acidity.
5)After filling of the pit completely we cover it with soil
6)After 1 month ,first turning of compost is done and water is applied.Second turning is done after another 1 month and again water is applied. This process is continued for 5-6months and after 5-6 months the compost is prepared.

Benefits:
. It enriches soil fertility.
