(Thematic report of March) People who have endeavored to better the environment!

by Dibya Bhatta | 06-04-2020 11:35

During my school days I used to read about climate change and sit and wander what I can do from my side to help mother nature!I used to be part of climate march and conferences in local level,When I went to university and worked in vital position in different organizations,I counducted climate related events myself like COP in my city simulation,Climate march,Junk art exhibition,plantation,Eco-generation orientation, poem competition and many more.By this time I have already known that Nepal contributes a very little in global emission but Nepal has to face a serious problem in near future and its infact 4th vulnerable in terms of climate change.I think the spread of corona virus to this pandemic scenario may be also due to the unwise activities of human and dvelopment of resistant in virus genome.During the lockdown going on around the planet ,the emission of CO2 and NO2 etc is cut off and mother nature is healing. So the over use of natural resources in the name of development has harmed mother nature alot. So mother nature need some heros around the globe to speak in favour of mother nature. It can be you,me or anyone living on this planet and at present the strongest hero for climate change is Greta thunberg,a Swedish environmental activist whose campaigning has gained international recognition and forced world leaders to act now on climate change.
This little girl inspite of her age is concerned about the mother nature. Her global event "friday for future" is supported by people around the globe to warn the world leaders. She started the change from herself by asking her parents to reduce the carbon foot print and and now encouraged many to follow her path.
In August 2018, at age 15, she started spending her school days outside the Swedish parliament to call for stronger action on climate change by holding up a sign reading Skolstrejk för klimatet (School strike for climate). Thunberg believes that humanity is facing an existential crisis because of global warming and holds the current generation of adults responsible for creating the problem. She uses graphic analogies (such as "our house is on fire") to highlight her concerns and often speaks bluntly to business and political leaders about their failure to take concerted action.
Thunberg has pointed out that climate change will have a disproportionate effect on young people whose futures will be profoundly affected. She argued that her generation may not have a future any more, because "that future was sold so that a small number of people could make unimaginable amounts of money". She also has made the point that people in the Global South will suffer most from climate change, even though they have contributed least in terms of carbon dioxide emissions. Thunberg has voiced support for other young activists from developing countries who are already facing the damaging effects of climate change. Speaking in Madrid in December 2019, she said: "We talk about our future, they talk about their present."
Speaking at international forums, she berated world leaders that too little action is being taken to reduce global emissions. She makes the point that lowering emissions is not enough, and says emissions need to be reduced to zero if the world is to keep global warming to less than 1.5C. Speaking to the British Parliament in April 2019, she said: "The fact that we are speaking of ¡°lowering¡± instead of ¡°stopping¡± emissions is perhaps the greatest force behind the continuing business as usual".
To conclude ,I think there is a strong politics going on around the world in the name of climate change and more youths should speak up for this one.Lets start from us,our homes and our community.Lets reduce our carbon foot prints,Lets carry our oen bags to markets, lets grow our own vegetables so that heavy use of pesticides and fertilizer use will be somewhat reduced to enhance production, manage your own wastes and you can add many to this list.Developed nations gained maximum economic growth using fossil fuels and they blame now the developing nations for the emission too and and also they don't want developing nations to use fossil fuels to gain economic growth but the developing nations need to be also little careful and think for alternative energy sources like sun, wind and water energy. The developed nations induced climate change is now faced by every nations in the planet so the time has come to balance this all and join hands together to work for mother nature and hand the fresh earth to our off spring because we are borrowing it from them now.
lets just start with a small step and it can make a large impact in the future.
Green cheers!!
