Japanese Ryukin Goldfish

by Asmita Gaire | 01-04-2020 01:00

Whenever we visit any restaurants and hotels; one of the most eye-catching site is aquarium. Well, for me it's aquarium, not necessarily but it might be to others as well.

There are different kinds of fish for ornamental purpose. I am fascinated by Goldfish and most precisely, Japanese Ryukin Goldfish. The first time when I saw it I took it's photo which I have shared you in this report.

The ryukin is a hardy and attractive variety of goldfish with a pointed head and has a pronounced hump on the back behind the head. It may be long-finned or short-finned with either a triple or quadruple tail. The dorsal fin is high while the caudal fin is often twice as long as the body. The ryukin is a fine aquarium fish that can reach up to 8 inches in length.

I also like it for it's ecological importance. It provides poop which is fertilizer for the plants. It also consumes oxygen and respires CO2 which is good for the plants.

However, It's harmful for the ecosystem if someone doesn't change the water often because it produces ammonia as waste, which poisons the ecosystem.

What's your favorite fish from ecological as well as ornamental point of view and would choose for your aquarium?
