Humans and environment

Environment is the surroundings or conditions in which a person, animal or plant lives or operates and the natural world as a whole or in a particular geographical area especially as affected by human activity. It includes physical, chemical and other natural forces. They constantly interact with it and adapt themselves to conditions in their environment. Human beings are the integral part of the environment. Humans impact the physical environment in many ways as these are very closely related to one another and cannot be studied separately.

There are three types of human environment interaction. Those are dependent of people on the environment for basic needs, adaption to the environment and the way people modify the environment. These modifications can be negative or positive depending upon the impact. It is clearly visible that there are few positive impact on the environment as compared to negative. Positive interaction includes use of renewable sources of energy that would prevent the use of fossil fuel , thereby protecting the environment. Similarly planting trees, creation of national parks and conservation areas, rainwater harvesting which allows for direct use of rainwater or recharges the groundwater, thereby helping the depleting water tables.

It is believed that our old generation used the environment and resources more wisely and carefully than younger generation. Environment is changing day by day and it is becoming a challenge for human beings to overcome this negative changes. One of the most important negative effect of our interactions with the environment is it¡¯s degradation. Whether we talk about air or water or soil, people have polluted all of them. Industrial and domestic discharges have polluted surface and ground water sources making them unfit for direct consumption. Also, we are using the natural resources at a pace that within a few years they will vanish from the earth.

To conclude, we can say that it is the environment that is keeping humans alive. Without the blanket of environmen , we won¡¯t be able to survive. Moreover, the environment¡¯s contribution to life cannot be repaid. Besides, still what the environment has done for us, in return we only have damaged and degraded it.
