by Asmita Gaire | 10-03-2020 20:05

Every year we play Holi; a festival of colors of colors. We celebrate it as a symbol of Victory. We get excited and make a grand celebrations. But had our fun and celebration affected animals nearby us or not? We must think critically on this subject.

Dogs, cats and other animals try to escape away from these chemicals and products, which we can easily figure out by observing their behaviors. Only a very few people are awared about this fact. As veterinarians we approach people via various medium and aware them about adverse health jmpacts of these colors to animals.

It's not just animals but some of the human are also very much sensitive to these colors.
We can feel effect of colors in our body and just can easily wiped out but have we ever thought about animals?

They can't wash these colors which stain their skin, fur and whole body; in a meantime leading to adverse effects.

Unlike dogs and cats, we have an immune system that is strong enough to counter any ill effects caused by the chemicals and dyes in the colors. The toxicity of these chemicals can take a toll on the animals having a weak defense mechanism.

Adverse effects:
1. Hypersensitivity
2. Blindness
3. Asphyxia
4. Acts as slow poison

For this we must exclude animals during our celebration.
Moreover, this year we have an increasing threat while celebrating this festival due to contagious and highly infective corona virus. We must avoid crowd and colors from unknown source. Get awared yourself and also aware your colleagues, relatives and everyone around you

How did you celebrate your holi?
