Animal health and ecological implications (free topic)

by Cassie Kenny | 09-03-2020 20:42

Domestic animals are important in our environment. In one way or the other these animals complete the ecosystem. Just like human beings, animals deserve good treatment when they get sick.
The reasons for treating animals and their health services is to improve the level of livestock production and most importantly the well being of animals and also control major diseases in animals. While pursuing  these important issues, these activities  could being about pollution and degradation  of the environment due to some factors such as overpopulation  of livestock, overexhaustion of available  natural resources  like grass, shrubs and veterinary products such as the vaccines and medication.
Overgrazing in a small land due to overpopulation  of livestock may contribute to land degradation, desertification, erosion and even reduced soil fertility. The use of paddocks, zero grazing and keeping the enough livestock  can rescue  situations of erosion .
Use of pesticides is not harmful because it improves animal productivity however, some farmers are never careful about the ecosystem  and thus they over use  these chemicals and pose a threat to the environment  like soil toxicity ,soil erosion and acidity in soil.
Proper disposal of pesticide cans, dead animals and animal wastes is wanting.Poor disposal of dead animals that died of sickness poses a risk to other animals. Pesticide cans and animal waste is also harmful and farmers need to be enlightened on proper disposal.
Veterinary stores should be made available for farmers in various areas. This is to ensure proper information dissemination  on proper use of veterinary drugs. If drugs are not well administered, traces of drugs can be present in milk, meat, eggs and other animal products.Farmers need to know the  importance of ensuring the animals get better and reasons why they shouldn't be in a haste of using animal products that are under medication .
Ecological implications are felt due to little information or lack of the information at all by the farmers. To avoid such, there is need for information to farmers inform of seminars, trainings on how to handle animal health to avoid posing dangers to the ecosystem.
