Today I am sharing some tips to have a sustainable lifestyle

1.                  Save water

Invest money into water-saving devices and plumbing, such as rainwater harvesting and greywater recycling systems, water saving taps. This also helps in lowering your monthly bills.

2.                  Switch your flours

Crops can¡¯t be grown every year in the same soil without replacing nutrients taken by the plants, and switching the flour you use can help. So try to use various type of grains.

3.                  Buy half your food locally

The shorter the food chain, the less waste created before it reaches your kitchen. You are actually helping to reduce carbon footprint.

4.                  Support upcycling

Upcycling gives a new look to our existing products. It enhances your creativity too.  

5.                  Recycle as much as you can

Find out the nearest recycling points. Segregate your items and dispose at designated places.

6.                  Kitchen garden

Consuming home grown organic food. Utilizing your own compost. You can improve your health. You can also reduce your vegetable bills.

7.         Get swishing


Have you heard of Clothes swaps? Cloth swapping is known as swishing. This is one of the greenest ways to refresh your wardrobe.

 

8.                  Mend your clothes

We often have a tendency to throw our clothes if they are torn or not fitting us. Why not spend some time and right size your clothes. Stitch your buttons, adjust your waist length, height etc.

9.         Use Energy wisely

The cost of running your fridge and freezer equates to about 7% of your total energy bill. Replace your fridge and/or freezer if it is over 10 years old. Even if it¡¯s working, the cost of a new model will be made up for in energy savings over the years. Always choose energy efficient appliances.

10.       Purchase plastic free and avoid single use plastics.

As we all know single use plastics constitute the majority of the plastic waste. Let us make wise choice and pick ¡®green packaged items¡¯
