The severity of Environments with NIMS(Korea)

by Chaehyun Park | 05-03-2020 16:20

The National Institute of Meteorological Science(NIMS) in Korea is below the Meteorological Administration of Korea. The NIMS takes part in studying Earth's environment or natural catastrophe, particularly focusing on Korea, to solve when it comes to reality. Not only such studying, but the NIMS is always monitoring the emission of greenhouse gas and yellow dust.
From the 1990s, the NIMS in Korea was in a group which can predict the world's weather. Presently there are only 13 countries in the group.
As great as it is, it has a lot of high-quality data for climate change, which is quite shocking. What's the reason to refuse such useful information, isn't it?
At first, We need to know the accurate definition of Climate Change. Many people are confused about the difference between climate and weather. Cheon-ho Jo, the former first head of the NIMS described "the weather is a mood in every single day and the climate is an own personality of whom." That is to say, the weather is changing every day so it is normal to change. Moreover, it has to be changed. But the climate has 30 years as a criterion. Hence, climate change means the weather for 30 years has changed on average. Climate change is including approximate every weather phenomenon, such as global warming, heatwave, flood, drought, etc. Because of this property, Cheon-ho Jo alluded to climate change with diabetes. He said the feature of diabetes which brings about complex diseases as well as itself is pretty similar to the climate's complexity.
"Greenhouse gas is our vital point," said Cheonho Jo. Just as a single attack of the vital point kills us instantly, greenhouse gases are a small amount for us, but they rarely disappear for millions of years, so even a small increase makes a big difference. Such greenhouse gases, we continue to stimulate. This is why NIMS insists on climate change.
Below picture is the prediction of the Earth in 2100 that NIMS of Korea did in the 2000s.
Cheon-ho Jo expressed the Earth is exactly transforming as expected what NIMS of the time predicted the worst scenario.
With this research, he referred to Tipping Point, which means an average temperature rise of 2 degrees that Paris Agreement limited. If we pass the Tipping Point, we can never go back for ourselves to Holocene. In the Tipping Point, we will experience a state of no use then, whether closing the factory or not taking the car. Many environmental researchers have emphasized confidently the Tipping Point will come in 10 years. To solve it, we have to turn back to the 2000s.
As told you, the researchers got found climate change in detail, and they initiated to assert that all countries should reduce the amount of greenhouse emission by 4% at least. But their opinion was passed with silence in those days. Therefore, NIMS of Korea suggested again in 2018 that all countries should reduce the amount of greenhouse emission by 18% at least. We all know it cannot be ignored again but it is too large between 4% and 18%. If we had respected the researchers' opinion and executed the 4% solution, we could overcome it much more facilely. To reduce by 18%, Cheon-ho Jo said: The whole world will go through as much of a crisis as the 'global financial crisis' with its hands in hand.
But what can we do with only regretting? We have no choice but to follow.
