Polar Bears are going cannibal due to climate change

by Sandip Timilsena | 03-03-2020 11:51

Cases of Polar Bears  killing and eating each other are on the rise in the Arctic as melting ice and human activity erode their habitat, a Russian scientist has warned."Cases of cannibalism among polar bears are a long-established fact, but we're worried that such cases used to be found rarely while now they are recorded quite often," said polar bear expert Ilya Mordvintsev, quoted by Interfax news agency.

Due to recent shift in climatic patterns, wildlife are extremely devastated and Polar Bear is one with the significant negative impact. in some parts of the Arctic, such as the western Hudson Bay and the southern Beaufort Sea, the diminishing sea ice has already caused polar bear populations to decline. In other areas, such as the northern Beaufort Sea, this has not yet started to happen.

This is a serious concern because such behaviour may be showcased by other animals in near future as well. Biologist and Environmentalist have given warning that if climate change is not slowed down, we might see extinction of Polar Bear in near future.
