Environmental issues in Nepal

by Sabitri Pandey | 22-02-2020 16:56

Greetings everyone,
Its proud moment that we have many eco generation ambassadors from Nepal and they are doing well for the betterment of  ourenvironment and mother earth.

I want to congratulate them for their successful journey and want to tell them some environmental issues in Nepal.

as we Nepalese people are based on agriculture for livelihood but there are some problems in it. Agriculture and climate is directly related and climate change causes great loss in agriculture. Our environment is day by day in danger by by deforestation, habitat degradation and unsustainable harvesting. Major threats to some protected areas are grazing all year around, poaching for high value products, illegal timber harvesting and unsustainable tourism.

Also, unsustainable harvesting of wetland resources, industrial pollution, agricultural runoff, the introduction of exotic and invasive species into wetland ecosystems, and siltation.
Mountain biodiversity is suffering due to ecological fragility and instability of high mountain environments, deforestation, poor management of natural resources, and inappropriate farming practices.More factors for loss of biodiversity include landslide and soil erosion, pollution, fire, overgrazing, illegal trade, hunting and smuggling.
We all areresponsible for biodegredation and climate change. As a human being we have to change our behaviour and living styles so that it creates least negativeaffection to the environment.
Cheers
Gogreen
