by Jaewon Chang | 07-02-2020 13:05

In this article, I will be identifying technologies that have been developed to improve agricultural sectors of various countries, namely the Philippines and Taiwan.

Agriculture has been an integral component of society, serving as a method of obtaining consumable food. In the Philippines, improvements to agricultural technologies were explored. For example, the usage of F1 hybrid seeds in corn production were seen in the Caraga region of the Philippines. These seeds have been used for 3 main purposes: Ensuring sustainable corn production in the region, increasing the average yield harvested, and raise the income of marginal corn farmers in the region. Similar seeds were utilised in Taiwan, and have shown to increase yield per hectare.

Other technologies that have been developed in the Philippines include a solar-powered irrigation system on May 2018. It was said to irrigate up to 500,000 hectares of land. Additionally, forms of intelligent farming has allowed farmers to increase their efficiency in harvesting crops. The WR-801 Multi-Function Hand Tractor is a good example of this, being able to perform the jobs of 10 people at once. Ultimately, through the development of technology, the agricultural sector has benefitted by a tremendous amount.
