Hey Tunza members, mentors, ambassadors and my dear friends. Every year 02 February is observed as World Wetlands day. A wetland is a distinct ecosystem that is flooded by water, either permanently or seasonally, where oxygen-free processes prevail. The aim of this day is to raise global awareness about the vital role of wetlands for people and our planet. Each year a theme is selected to focus attention and help raise public awareness about the value of wetlands. The theme for the year 2020 is Wetlands and Biodiversity. The theme for the year 2019 was Wetlands and Climate Change. Wetlands are a critical part of our natural environment. They protect our shores from wave action, reduce the impacts of floods, absorb pollutants and improve water quality. They provide habitat for animals and plants and many contain a wide diversity of life, supporting plants and animals that are found nowhere else. To observe this day and to create community awareness and being Tunza ambassador I took part in Mangrove planting. This event was held by the Dubai Municipalities Environment Department. Dubai municipality has celebrated this occasion since 2007. My soul was filled with happiness after the planting mangroves this year too. I also got a chance to speak to more people during the event and we shared good thoughts on the importance to conserve mangroves. I would like to thank Tunza for providing me the promotional materials. Please read more about this event https://www.worldwetlandsday.org/ So friends, what did you do for World Wetlands Day?.
