Surkhet, gateway of Karnali

by Bal krishna Pandey | 06-01-2020 09:59

I am a veterinary student, now far from my home and university for my internship program. Surkhet is my intern site and I will be exploring this region for six months. This district is a part of karnali province, is capital of the province located about 600 kilometres west of the national capital city Kathmandu and 275 kilometers northwest of Chitwan(my home).I was very curious and excited about Surkhet when my internship site was fixed as the province holds one of the richest genetic biodiversity in the country. This province has the largest protected areas as well as beautiful mountains, lakes, trekking areas, valleys and socio-cultural activities. So I was sure this will help to explode my inner desire to be lost with nature.

When I landed at surkhet, I got a positive viberation with beautiful sunrise and moderate climate; Peaceful city, developing infrastructure and peoples love and harmony. I found that there are many natural and cultural touristics areas in surkhet. Bulbule lake, kakrebihar temple, Gothikanda, Bheri river for rafting and paragliding, Deutibajai temple makes more attractive to this district. The roads are going to be constructed and we can see planting trees around the roads and grounds.Surkhet

Though surkhet is a developing city, there some problems are existing . The roads in major parts are under construction, so pollution to the air is increasing day by day. There is dusts in the air so we have to keep masks everyday. Another main problem is plastic pollution, everywhere we can see plastics leftover. Burning of plastics with other wastes can be seen early in the morning. I found this plastic burning condition more in the winter.

Now, I have made some plans to minimize plastic pollutions in major part of surkhet. I have already made some discussion to government organizationas and clubs so that we could join our hands together to make Surkhet better. I will organize cleaniness programs as an ambassador of Tunza Eco Generation through project HPCP( Heal the Planet, Cut the Plastic) as well as school awareness to make my intern site better than pollution.

P.S. Surkhet is also known as Gateway of Karnali. I am excited to welcome you all tunza members to visit beautiful Karnali province and let's make visit Nepal year 2020 successful.
