Food and the environment

There is a proverb in Nepali, you will act what you eat, meaning our fooding behavior defines us. The more organized we become on our dining table so will be our day. There are two main aspects of food table. What we eat and how we eat!

What we eat is defined as what is available to us. In Nepal Mostly vegetables are seasonally available in market thus there are not many choices on what we eat daily which however also changes according to our economic status. Meaning rich people have more choice as compared to poor ones. The more choice we have developed over the past few years the more we are burdening mother earth. A goat eats 10 kg grass to make 1 kg meat. I hope this explains why religious leaders are vegetarian here at south Asia.

The second one is how we eat, our table manner and food we are wasting during cooking or eating. We must always keep in mind that a lot of people out there are starving for food what we are wasting now. Food takes months to grow but seconds to throw.
