¡°Eating is an agricultural act therefore it is also an ecological act¡±

Production, processing, distribution, consumption and waste of food impact the environment to a great level. Our eating habits impact the climate change more than any other thing. Production of meat and meat products accounts for 18 percentage of total greenhouse gas emission.

Each step in food processing chain has direct or indirect impact on the environment. Food processing can also lead to loss of valuable biomass and nutrients. Food processing requires water and energy whereas it¡¯s outputs are waste water, solid water and atmospheric pollution. Agriculture also requires 86% of fresh water. These are extremely harmful for the environment. waste treatment of these food processing issues requires  a lot of research in India as well as globally.

Bringing certain changes in the Daily fooding habits can ensure that no further environmental degradation takes place. The food you eat affects the well being of your body as well as the environment around you. This environment can include from anything starting from your home to your workplace to entire country. Use of organic food is one such way to reduce degradation of environment. Constant consumption of processed food also leads to excess waste in the environment. Reducing its use is beneficial for individuals as well as environment. Consuming less meat and eating seasonal food is Avery healthy way of life.
