I was excited to conduct an inspiring and impactful environmental event at the Composite Government School in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India on 18th August 2023. The event was organized under the banner of Tunza Eco Generation and was attended by over 120 students from the school. The primary objective was to create awareness among students about the pressing environmental issues and to encourage them to take positive steps toward a greener future. The theme of the event revolved around the reduction of plastic waste and the mitigation of carbon footprint in daily life. It kicked off with a presentation by me on the importance of sustainability and the need to protect our environment. I then invited the students to showcase their innovative working models crafted by themselves using recyclable or reusable plastic materials. These models reflected the students' creative ideas on how discarded plastics can be transformed into useful items, thereby promoting the concept of upcycling and waste reduction. After the showcase, the students engaged in meaningful discussions about various strategies to lower their carbon footprint. They learned about the small yet impactful changes they can make in their daily routines, such as conserving energy, reducing water consumption, and using eco-friendly transportation options. In an effort to enhance their public speaking skills and foster critical thinking, the students participated in speech and debate competitions. This allowed them to articulate their thoughts on environmental issues confidently and provided an opportunity for healthy debate and exchange of ideas. One of the event's key objectives was to introduce the students to the Tunza platform. I guided the students step by step on how to create accounts on the Tunza website. This practical session not only helped the students become familiar with the platform but also empowered them to actively participate in discussions, access educational resources, and share their own environmental initiatives. The event concluded on a high note, with students showing enthusiasm and keen interest in adopting sustainable practices. I was proud to see the students' passion for the environment and I am confident that they will be the leaders of tomorrow who will make a positive impact on the world. I would like to thank the school authorities, the teachers, and the students for their participation and support. I would also like to thank the Tunza Eco Generation team for their help in organizing the event |
