Apps, food, and the environment

by Elizaveta Zaretskaya | 09-12-2019 23:40

Hi everyone! My name is Lisa Zaretskaya. I would like to draw your attention to my report related to the topic of Apps, food, and the environment.
I recently read the news that one Taiwanese team develops an app aimed at reducing food waste. A team led by Taiwanese inventor Ho Wen-Hsin has launched a mobile application to help reduce food waste and to help to work directly with the restaurants and sellers of food products. The impetus was the search for a new method of procurement for traditional small eateries in Taiwan and make the purchase information transparent for producers, wholesalers, and restaurants. However, it was difficult for the team to find big clients, so they began to offer the app to vendors in traditional markets. The team has updated its app to include a service that allows restaurateurs to see what is offered by other suppliers and the prices. The team¡¯s system is based on hand-held device applications, and it is more mobile and practical.
The team¡¯s next step is to place providers and restaurants on the same platform, which would help providers see what products and food items are needed. It could help them reduce the overproduction of certain items, thereby reducing food waste. The team is looking forward to providing more services aimed at reducing the nation¡¯s food waste problem.  I think it's a great and very useful startup.

Thank you for your attention.

P. S. Dear mentors and friends! Sorry, that I write not always on time. The fact is, that I'm very busy at school.
